Development Service within the City of Asheville and Extra Territorial Jurisdiction
Building Safety enforces the NC Building Codes and the City of Asheville Minimum Housing Code. All applications for development are through the Development Service Center in the Wolcott Building, 161 S. Charlotte Street. Staff from Public Works Engineering, Planning, Building Safety, Fire, and Water Resources Departments review the plans for all development and are located in the facility. Special events, signs, tents, and individual permits are issued from this location.
